BC Science awards open for nominations

Burnaby, BC March 13, 2003 The Science Council of British Columbia is accepting nominations for the 2003 Science Council Awards, which recognize outstanding achievements by the province’s scientists, engineers, industrial innovators, and science communicators.

The Science Council Awards are the premier awards for recognizing outstanding achievements by BC’s scientists, engineers, industrial innovators, and science communicators. The first Science Council Award was issued in 1980. Since that time many notable individuals have been recognized, often far in advance of receiving widespread notoriety for their work. A Science Council Award is considered to be the eminent provincial recognition for achievement in S&T. As such, they honour the recipients as well as inspire up and coming scientists and innovators.

Nominees should be BC residents, whose work is clearly distinguished by its quality and broad importance.

The deadline for nominations is April 30, and more information is available on the council’s website at www.scbc.org.
