Microbiology awards issue nomination deadline


Ottawa, ON November 7, 2003 The Canadian Society of Microbiologists has announced deadlines for two upcoming awards.

Nominations are being accepted for the Roche Diagnostic/CSM Award 2004 and for the 2004 Fisher Scientific Award. Deadline for both is December 1.

The Roche Diagnostic/CSM Award provides national recognition to outstanding Canadian microbiologists and a historical record of them and their achievements. Eligibility is limited to Canadian citizens or residents who have done outstanding scientific work in microbiology and who have active/previous CSM membership.

The Fisher Scientific Award is given to stimulate and recognize new researchers in the microbiological sciences. The award comprises $1,500.00 and an inscribed scroll. All members of the Canadian Society of Microbiologists who have worked for a period not exceeding ten years after their last degree are eligible (PhD 1993). A nominee must have made an outstanding contribution to research or to the development of the discipline for which the award is made and must still be actively engaged in this work.
