Annual science and tech report charts federal policy in 2002

Ottawa, ON May 28, 2003 The federal government has released its 2002 report on science and technology in Canada, entitled "Science and Technology Advice: A Framework To Build On".

The report focuses on the government’s progress in adopting its framework for science and technology advice. The framework is intended to ensure that government policy, and regulatory and management decisions are underpinned by sound science and technology advice. The report also showcases major science and technology achievements of science-based departments and agencies during the year.

“This report shows how we are taking action on the science and technology advice we receive, and making the best possible use of it,” says Allan Rock, minister of industry. “It charts the progress we have made in applying science and technology advice to government decision making.”

A data booklet," Science and Technology Data 2002", is being released with the report. This booklet provides a summary of science and technology indicators for Canada.
