New leader named for the Xerox Research Centre of Canada

Toronto, ON – Xerox says it has appointed Dr Hadi Mahabadi to vice president and centre manager of the Xerox Research Centre of Canada (XRCC) one of the company’s premier research labs. The appointment was announced by Herv Gallaire, chief technology officer and president of the Xerox Innovation Group.

Also today, Dr. Mahabadi met with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty to discuss the future and importance of research and development in the Province and across Canada.

In his new role, Dr Mahabadi is responsible for the operations, vision and direction of XRCC. One of five Xerox Innovation Group research centres, XRCC was founded in 1974 in Mississauga to investigate and develop next- generation imaging materials and consumables such as toners, inks, photoreceptors and specialty media.

Dr Mahabadi has been with XRCC for 23 years. Since 1981, he has held a variety of managerial positions, most recently as XRCC’s associate centre manager. He has led teams that developed materials for many Xerox products, including toner resins and carrier coating materials for high-volume production printers. He was also instrumental in the development of emulsion aggregation toner, the latest generation of toner technology introduced in 2001 that the company says yields superior print quality and narrows the gap between colour and monochrome printing costs.
