Photonics research projects sought for funding

Quebec, QC — February 3, 2003 A total of C$4.4 million in research funding is available from the Canadian Institute for Photonic Innovations (CIPI), and the institute is seeking proposals for research projects for fiscal years 2003-04 and 2004-05.

CIPI is a nationwide network that brings together the talents of nearly 70 of Canada’s leading researchers representing over 50 companies, 25 universities and 12 government research centres. A diverse array of disciplines is encompassed, including biomedical experts, chemists, computer scientists, engineers, and physicists.

New investigators are encouraged to apply. Proposals may be entirely new or may be the result of the evolution or reorganization of existing projects, reflecting novel research interests and partnerships.

Project proposals will be evaluated by the Research Program Committee. Proposals for both one year (fiscal year 2003-2004 only) and two year funding will be accepted.

Deadline for submitting proposals is February 28, 2003, and more information is available on CIPI’s website at www.cipi.ulaval.ca
