Nanotechnology gets funding support in Quebec

Montreal, QC – A non-repayable financial contribution of $724,500 has been made by the federal government to support the activities of NanoQuebec, an organization devoted to developing nanotechnology in Quebec.

Nanotechnology has the promise of enabling the development of more effective medicines with fewer side effects, highly-durable materials, tiny but more powerful computers. Nanotechnology opens up new horizons in virtually every industrial sector, from everything from materials science to microelectronics, aerospace, information technology and biomedicine.

In Quebec, nanotechnology-based research, collaboration and promotion are largely coordinated by NanoQuebec. It is with a view to supporting the impetus created by this organization and strengthening the partnerships among the various stakeholders from the education, research and business communities that Canada Economic Development has awarded the funding.
