Biopharm company AEterna adds three to scientific advisory board


Quebec City, QC April 9, 2003 AEterna Laboratories has made three appointments to its scientific advistory board. Dr Fernand Labrie, Dr Klaus HR Diedrich and Dr Ren Frydman have all been added to the board, Gilles Gagnon, president and chief executive officer, announced yesterday.

Dr Labrie is director of research at the CHUL Research Centre in Qubec City, Dr Diedrich is director of the department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the University Clinic in Luebeck, Germany, and Dr Frydman is director of the department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at the Antoine Beclere Hospital near Paris.

“The expertise of these new members, together with that of the other members of our board, enables us to build a team of top scientists in oncology and endocrinology, two sectors that are now the focus of our scientific research strategy,” said Dr Jurgen Engel. Dr Engel is managing director at Zentaris, as well as executive vice president, Global Research and Development and chief operating officer at AEterna.

A biopharmaceutical company, AEterna is focused on the development of novel therapeutic treatments, mainly in oncology and endocrinology.
