$11.5M for stem cell therapy research


Hamilton, ON – Ontario’s provincial government has announced $11.5 million in funding support Dr Mick Bhatia and his team of 15 researchers at McMaster University, who are developing stem cell-based therapies.

Dr Bhatia has already made several important advances in human stem cell research. His focus is on identifying methods to activate the regenerative process of stem cells and developing new medicines to repair the damage done by cancer and other diseases.

The funding is being made through the province’s Global Leadership Round in Genomics & Life Sciences (GL2).
