$1.3M funding supports life sciences research projects


St John’s, NL – Newfoundland’s Research & Development Corporation (RDC) has announced a total of $1.3 million in funding for 12 health and life sciences-related projects.

Researchers from Memorial University of Newfoundland’s Faculty of Medicine, School of Pharmacy and Faculty of Science funded through RDC’s LeverageR&D program are receiving over $1 million of additional support from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR).

A total of $1,378,640 is being provided to the following 12 research projects at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Funding is received through RDC’s academic programs: LeverageR&D and IgniteR&D. Those projects funded through the LeverageR&D program are receiving an additional $1,094,640 from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

IgniteR&D attracts highly-qualified academic researchers and builds new research and development (R&D) capacity in areas relevant to the Newfoundland and Labrador economy.
