Forestry research strengthened in Northern British Columbia

Prince George, BC – The federal government is providing $876,779 in funding to support the University of Northern British Columbia’s forestry research. The money will go towards expanding the university’s forest research laboratory, establishing a renewable energy and environmental research and development centre and purchasing a laser-scanning microscope.

"The natural resource sector is experiencing challenges associated with globalization, climate change, and other forces,” says Dr Max Blouw, the university’s vice president, research. “The research tools that have been made available will help UNBC and its partners to undertake research that will assist communities to build ever stronger social and economic opportunities.”
