Canadian Health Services Research Foundation appoints new CEO

Ottawa, ON – The Canadian Health Services Research Foundation has appointed Dr Jeanette Ward, currently Canada Research Chair in Policy Implementation in Population Health at the University of Ottawa, to the role of chief executive officer at the foundation, effective April 2, 2007.

“While Jeanette will be missed at the university, we are heartened to see that one of our internationally recognised research leaders has accepted this key position in Canadian healthcare,” said Dr Mona Nemer, vice-president, research at the University of Ottawa.

Dr Jacques Bradwejn, interim dean of the Faculty of Medicine, also added his praise for Dr Ward’s appointment. “Jeanette has our support in using the next few months to conclude her research and policy activities at the Institute of Population Health. As a clinical researcher and leader in health care delivery myself, I especially welcome her appointment as an exciting development in the advancement of evidence-informed decision-making in Canada.”

Established in 1997, the Canadian Health Services Research Foundation promotes and funds management and policy research in health services and nursing to increase the quality, relevance and usefulness of this research for health-system policy makers and managers.
