Ottawa, ON – The federal government today announced the appointment of 121 Canada Research Chairs, with supporting funding of $91.5 million.
The funding includes $12.1 million from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to fund research infrastructure essential to the work done by 76 of the chairs.
“By investing in leading-edge research throughout the country we are ensuring that Canada will become a nation of innovation,” says Dr Eliot Phillipson, president and CEO of the CFI. “This partnership between the chairs program and the CFI has allowed our universities to attract and retain the best and brightest minds from around the world.”
