Handheld analyzer detects oil contamination, degradation

When lubricants break down or become contaminated, equipment failure can occur. The Fluidscan Q1100 handheld infrared oil analyzer can detect when oil is no longer fit for use. Using only one drop, the analyzer immediately measures water, total acid number, oxidation, glycol and total base number. The unit’s flip-top design speeds test preparation and clean-up. It also integrates with Emerson Process Management’s Ams Oilview software. Data can be uploaded and analyzed, and routes—similar to routes for thermography and vibration—can be downloaded to the unit. The analyzer also includes a reference library of lubricants for gearboxes, turbines, compressors and hydraulic systems. Spectro Inc.
