Montreal, QC – The federal government says it is awardubg $643,608 in non-repayable funding to support the activities of the Quebec Photonic Network (QPN).
The Quebec Photonic Network, formed in 2005 by the merger of the Rseau photonique de Montral and the Groupement optique photonique de Qubec, is a non-profit industrial cluster whose mandate is to contribute to the advancement of the provinces optics-photonics industry.
The aim of the network is to lead and invigorate the sector in co-operation with industry stakeholders operating in the fields of research, technology, manufacturing, labour, marketing, investment and entrepreneurship. The contribution from Canada Economic Development will serve to finance a portion of the QPNs activities over the next two years.
The Quebec Photonic Network is the provinces only industrial cluster in photonics. An active member of the Canadian Photonics Consortium, the QPN is involved in the joint development of a number of international activities. Today, the QPN and the Ottawa Photonics Cluster together account for one of the highest concentrations of photonics enterprises in Canada, all within a corridor of 500 km.
