Affordable EMR spectrometer to further education

To regenerate the teaching of EMR in universities and colleges, the compact benchtop spectrometer AffirmoEX Electron Magnetic Resonance (EMR) system was launched. EMR, also known as Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR) or Electron Spin Resonance (ESR), is a valuable but often neglected technique that directly measures unpaired electrons, a key chemical moiety, important in a range of areas such as free radical studies, oxidation, transition metal oxidation states, catalysis, reaction mechanism elucidation and reaction kinetics. Together with this spectrometer, a comprehensive package of undergraduate teaching materials is being introducing, making it easy to incorporate both theoretical and practical aspects of the technique into the undergraduate curriculum.
