The exhibitors at ChemBio interacted with the attendees at the Chemical Congress and Chemical Days 2015, which was held concurrently at the same venue. This event included a wide range of free lectures and scientific demonstrations about chemistry – plus solar and bioenergy; food science; and environmental topics.

A number of industry awards were presented at the congress. Hannu Vornamo, secretary general of the Helsinki Chemical Forum (HCF), received the 2015 Chemical Societies Award in recognition of his longstanding contributions to the Finnish chemical industry. The €5,000 BioFinland Award – which salutes Finnish innovation that has international potential – was won by contract biopharmaceuticals manufacturer Biovian Ltd.

Chemical industry specialists may also be interested in attending the 7th Helsinki Chemical Forum. This will be held at the Helsinki Exhibition and Convention Centre on May 28-29, following the European Chemical Agency’s Stakeholders’ Day on May 27.
