Commercialization program boosts Alberta-Finland ties

Edmonton, AB – Alberta Innovates-Technology Futures has issued a second call for proposals for the Alberta – Finland Innovation and Commercialization Program.

The $2 million program allows small to medium-sized Alberta companies to partner with Finnish companies in clean technologies, advanced materials, instrumentation/sensors, health, and information and communication technology.

Finland is internationally recognized as an innovation and clean technology leader. As a member of the European Union, Finland also provides market access throughout Europe. The bilateral trade relationship between Canada and Finland was valued at $2.5 billion in 2011.

The program is supported by Alberta Enterprise and Advanced Education through Alberta Innovates-Technology Futures. TEKES, the Finland’s government-supported innovation organization, provides matching funding for the Finnish partner.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is June 21.
