Agriculture research gets new equipment funding


Kelowna, BC – The University of British Columbias Okanagan campus has rec, ved funding of $355,000 from Western Economic Diversification Canada, which will allow it to acquire leading-edge research equipment and establish a new Okanagan Regional Chemical Analysis Centre.

UBC Okanagans research capacity is increasing rapidly, says Dr Doug Owram, UBC Okanagan deputy vice chancellor. We have established centres of research that are among Canadas premier labs exploring issues in agri-food and chemical analysis, species at risk, and habitat studies.

The campus will purchase new research equipment to improve the quality of high-value products within the local agricultural industry including grapes, apples and lavender.
