$2.2M funding supports marine science and technology research and development

Rimouski, QC – The Centre interdisciplinaire de développement en cartographie des océans (Development Centre in Ocean Mapping – CIDCO) and the Centre de recherche sur les biotechnologies marines (Marine Biotechnology Research Centre – CRBM) are receiving $722,400 and $1,565,790, respectively, in funding from the federal government.

The CRBM and CIDCO play key roles in the Bas-Saint-Laurent innovation network, particularly in the marine science and technology sector. Through a combination of research activities and other support they provide to small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector, these organizations make a significant contribution to the development of the region’s marine science and technology industrial cluster. Both centres serve as an interface between institutions of higher learning and local companies to ensure the pooling of resources.

The funding will be used to create one new job at CIDCO and the maintenance of 35 others at CRBM and enable both organizations to continue supporting growth of their partner enterprises.
