$10,000 award to accelerate genetic discoveries

Ottawa, ON – DNA Genotek, a provider of products for biological sample collection, has introduced the GenoFIND Genomic Services Award, which is designed to facilitate analysis of nucleic acid samples. The award will accelerate genetic discoveries by providing US$10,000 in GenoFIND services to the selected winner. GenoFIND is a compilation of commercially available genomic services that include: nucleic acid extraction, SNP genotyping, PCR-based assays, whole genome and targeted sequencing, array-based SNP and expression profiling, custom assay development and bioinformatic analysis.

DNA Genotek is accepting award entries from researchers at academic institutions and non-profit research centres from now until March 1, 2013. The winner will be notified on March 12, 2013. Requirements for submission include a brief abstract of the research project, the number and type of collected samples, and the type of assays required for analysis.

“We designed this award to recognize and reward researchers who have collected nucleic acid samples and are ready to analyze those samples,” said Ian Curry, president of DNA Genotek Inc. “We are pleased to be able to provide genomic analysis services and research-ready data that can immediately be used to help researchers gain insights into a disease or condition.”
