$1.2 million partnership with Quebec biotech centre renewed

Laval, QC The federal government has made a non-repayable contribution of $1.2 million to the Centre qubcois d’innovation en biotechnologie (CQIB), which is celebrating its tenth anniversary.

This funding will serve to cover a portion of the CQIB’s operating costs and will create some 40 specialized jobs in companies incubated by the centre. Since its beginnings in 1995, the CQIB has helped set up 22 enterprises and create more than 600 jobs. The centre offers pre-incubation and incubation programs for researcher-entrepreneurs looking to start up a biotech business specializing in the health, environment, agri-food and forestry industries.

Canada Economic Development’s mandate is to promote the economic development of the regions of Quebec.
