Markham innovation centre gets $240,000 funding

Toronto, ON – The Innovation Synergy Centre in Markham (ISCM) is receiving a total of $240,000 in funding from the Ontario Centres of Excellence (OCE). It will receive half the total this year, and the remaining half next year.

“OCE and ISCM work in powerful complement to one another to build sustainable economic prosperity by helping position companies for success,” says Mark Romoff, OCE’s president and CEO. “We have a great partner in ISCM, and this investment will allow us to bring expanded opportunity and added value to more companies in the area.”

Together, OCE and ISCM will identify collaborative research and development projects for market-driven technologies. The two organizations will also work together to assess high-potential seed-financing opportunities. The result will be technologies and management teams better prepared to compete in the marketplace.

The organizations have already worked together on a number of projects, and several partners – including the Health Technology Exchange (HTX) and the National Research Council’s Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) – are represented at the centre.

“ISCM is pleased to continue its relationship with the OCE team,” says Bob Glandfield, president and CEO, Innovation Synergy Centre in Markham. “The access to technical and financial support provided by OCE is an important component of our ability to link our technology clients to support for their R&D endeavours with universities and colleges.”
