Edmonton, AB – The End-MS Research and Training Network, an initiative of the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, has received $1.5 million in funding from the Alberta government. The network will facilitate the recruitment and training of young scientists and foster a collaborative environment for research.

The goals of the network are to:
– develop outstanding young scientists through all stages of their training;
– provide the world’s first national forum for training MS researchers;
– coordinate research activity to maximize collaboration and results;
– ensure that research dollars are granted to innovative, collaborative studies; and,
– establish an MS Leadership Centre in Alberta and in other provinces.

The network will use communications and teleconferencing technologies to facilitate collaborative research among research centres across Canada. In addition, it will develop recruiting, retention and mentorship programs directed to outstanding young scientists.
